Christmas # 2 Finally!

Ugh. The delay on this is unreal. I keep waiting to upload it to get the pictures off the small camera's card which has gone corrupt and of course has all of our "good" pitures. I decided at this point it may never happen so I will use what I have!

Lucille's first "real" Christmas was celebrated down in sunny south Florida with Emme and Papa, as well as Granna/Gigi (her namesake!) and Bumpa. Our flight down to south Florida was the most challenging so far. We were about to pull out of the gate when a ground stop was called in South FL. In short, this meant we were delayed for a few hours on the plane. Overall Lucille did well- I was the one who was getting majorly stressed.

Emme went over and above getting the house ready for Lucille's arrival. We had a bouncy chair, play mat, stroller, and car seat all loaned by other teachers. She basically created a baby resort in her house. I think Lucille enjoyed a break from all her normal toys!

In addition, Emme got the house decked out in Christmas flair, bought all of our favorite Christmas goodies (chocolate covered cherries and mints), and even made a Korb/Hendryx fusion mud pie which consisted of candy cane ice cream (that Pearce grew up with and the chocolate crust that I grew up with). And she did all this while still in school! Super Emme!

Too much?
Since we were going to have to travel back home on Christmas Day we decided to celebrate the day after we arrived down south. We started the morning with the requisite monkey bread. I think it was the first time the monkey bread wasn't demolished within five minutes...people were just too distracted looking at Lucille.

Next on the agenda were the stockings and gifts. Lucille was given the "kid's" stocking full to the brim with fun stuff. She was less than enthused with unwrapping her "real" gifts and in the end she liked the snowman attached to the outside of the stocking the best. Mom didn't know before then that the snowman could actually be taken out of the pocket. She played with that snowman the rest of her visit.

Later that day Lucille got to meet her Auntie Chirsta for the first time. We got to play, go for a walk in the beautiful weather and of course, eat more!!!

Our Christmas dinner was a lavish spread with oyster dressing, cheesy corn, mashed potatoes, corn bread muffins, cranberries, and prime rib. In this family we like to eat!!

I think what Lucille enjoyed the most (and certainly what Pearce and I enjoyed) was spending time with family!!
