Go West Young Girl - Telluride

40th Anniversary of Telluride's Bluegrass Festival

We finally made it to Telluride for the 40th Annual Bluegrass festival. We stayed on the top of the mountain in a gorgeous log home. The night we arrived Holly and mom put together an awesome birthday dinner for him.

The next day we headed down to the festival. This meant we had to take the gondola down, much to mom's tredpidation and Lucille's delight. Apparently mom didn't not pass along her "fear of heights" DNA to Lucille.

The Girls

That first day we quickly learned that we were going to have to get there earlier than 10 am if we wanted to get a spot to sit. Luckily, John staked out a spot in the back so we could settle in and listen to some great bluegrass and drink some beer.

The next few days were more bluegrass fun. Most days Holly went down early to score us a spot via the "Tarp Run". A time honored tradition, the Tarp Run is where people wait in line each morning (some crazies over night) of the festival in order to get a number and thus, entrance to the festival pre-official opening. We had John and Pearce run our tarps in to claim a bluegrass party zone.

Last day of the festival  - we had a great time and look forward to going back! Next time with a canopy tent.
