To Lucille on Her Ten and Eleventh Month Birthday

You are my Sunshine

Wow this summer has been super busy. Because of it I am waaaay behind on my letters to you. At this point I can't remember what happened which month so I am going to do a combo on the past two months. Okay, let's see....

We had a lot of fun stuff over these past few months. Grana and Bumpa came through to visit you on their way back to Michigan. It's always great when the Lucilles can get together! Bumpa had a great time rolling around on the floor with you. I was worried he wouldn't be able to get up! He is 90 after all.

The Great Grands

We did our first 10k with you. Auntie Kristen and Mike joined us as well! You seemed to enjoy looking around at everyone as we ran.

A huge milestone over the past months was selling Hosea house. Having had it on the market for almost two years it felt great to have finally have sold it and to be mortgage free! We will look back on it fondly though as it was our first home and where we brought you home from the hospital.

Of course we had our big trip out west. You did really well in the car with minimal whining except for the 6+ hour hauls. By then your Dad and I wanted to whine too so I can't really blame you. You had more of a struggle with altitude which cause many sleepless night, but it didn't really seem to bother you during the day- you were as smiley as ever.

We also visited Emme and Papa in South Florida. You had a great time there despite biting your tongue, banging your head against the tile, and having a 104 degree fever for four days. What can I say, you are a trooper!

These past months you were as active as ever and incredibly curious about the world. You roam all over the apartment and pretty much everywhere else we go. You like to inspect everything and study what the people are doing all around you.

How low can you go?
I want to be with the big kids!

Although still not walking on your own, you are an expert at walking around with assistance. And by the end of your 11th month you barely held on. You have managed to stand on your own for around five seconds and the first time you walked a few steps on your own was in Durango, Colorado. It took both your Dad and I by surprise. Unfortunately, you figured out pretty quickly that you could sit down so you didn't have to walk if you didn't want to.

You LOVE walking around with the help of other people
Similarly, you still aren't too interested in talking, but there is lots of mimicking- ooo, aaa, baa, daaa. You have only said one thing so far and it was out of necessity. When we were in Colorado your Emme watched you one afternoon watched you so your Dad and I could go down to the festival sin bebe. It did not go well. You were apparently going through a bit of separation anxiety and cried and cried inconsolibly. When we came back a few hours later and saw me, you yelled "mama mama mama". I am curious what other words you have stored up waiting to come out!

These past months you had a few mannerisms that really stood out. This was one of your favorite faces in the tenth month. We call it "the grumpus".

You also like to scrunch your nose up.

You like to put your finger in your mouth when you are being thoughtful.

Who me?
During your 11th month, you started getting chunkier. Probably because I started supplementing my breastfeeding with formula because I had started to cut calories to take off the rest of my baby weight.

I still plan on making a year breastfeeding you since that is the current recommendation. It was a little touch and go there for a while because you started biting me when you got your top teeth and put me into tears a few times. I gave you two weeks and you seemed to figure out that biting was not cool!

So Sick
Your top two teeth came in! For awhile I thought you had a severe under bite because you love to put your bottom teeth in front of your top teeth when you smile.
